Mentula and Väätäinen establish new boutique law firm in Finland

Arttu Mentula and Tapio Väätäinen have established a new boutique law firm called Mentula & Väätäinen Attorneys Ltd in Helsinki, Finland starting its operation today. The firm specialises in challenging competition law and dispute resolution matters.

Arttu Mentula is the former Head of Competition and EU law practice group and Tapio Väätäinen is the former Co-Head of Dispute Resolution practice group at another well-known Finnish business law firm. Both Mentula and Väätäinen are top ranked in several international publications (such as Chambers Global and Europe, Legal 500, Best Lawyers and Global Competition Review (GCR)) in their respective areas of practice in Finland.

The timing to establish a boutique law firm felt exactly right. There has already been a global trend of experienced partners of bigger law firms setting up their own law firms specialising in competition law or dispute resolution matters. Clients are looking for partners who are hands-on and experienced. Not only that, many cases require a combination of expertise in competition law and dispute resolution, for example in follow-on damages litigation in cartel and abuse of dominant position cases. Our law firm will be there to meet these needs.

Arttu Mentula and Tapio Väätäinen have been the trusted legal advisers to several major corporations for nearly two decades. We are happy to continue assisting our clients with their complex legal matters in our new firm. Our client base consists of both international and Finnish listed companies, as well as other major corporations which we have assisted over several years.

Mentula and Väätäinen are highly experienced and solution-oriented attorneys. If needed, they will always go the extra mile to achieve their clients’ business goals.
